Who is Guido D'Arezzo?

Guido D'Arezzo was an Italian medieval music theorist of the 11th century, whose approach to music teaching has shaped music learning for several centuries, especially in the aspect of music notation and theory. Born c. 990, —died 1050, Guido D'Arezzo's principles served as a foundation for modern Western musical notation. He first improved and reworked standard notation to be more user-friendly by adding time signatures. Then he invented solfege. This is the vocal note scale: do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do. Founder Joseph Natale is said to be a descendant of Guido D'Arezzo. Santa Barbara Creative Education follows the style and theme of innovative creativity in its approach to learning.
